The 2018 Richard Hartley Memorial Race

Post by Mob »

The 2018 Richard Hartley Memorial Race, open to all Richard Hartley designed trailable yachts, will be taking place on February 10th. Our Hosts, Lagoon Boat Club have invited the Hartleys to race with their Keel Boat Fleet, on the waters of Corio Bay. Other classes of trailer sailers are invited to join us for the fun but not the trophy. Full details to come.

Well I'm sorry but the details coming are not that full. The race start, I'm told, is at 1pm off Limeburners Lagoon. We generally launch from St Helens at about 10 and head over to the Lagoon Boat Club for the pre-race briefing. The passage race is usually over by 4-4.30 and we then head back to the Boat Club jetty for the night and a BBQ. If the forecast isn't good for a night on the jetty we head back to St Helens and overnight there. I'm unsure if there's race fees (most other years there hasn't been) but insurance is essential. There's a chance of a close up look at those foiling things that Pdandy is thinking about watching, only I hope it isn't too close up. If you haven't done Corio Bay before, it's well worth a look.
I'll be putting in on Friday, so if anyone wants a quick (probably slow actually) sail, or just to say howdy, just drop on down.
