BEWARE of Stoney Point ramp on Western Port Bay

Post by SimonP »

Several years ago we launched at Stony Point ramp for a sail over to Phillip Island. The ramp was so weed-covered it was treacherous. Both my wife and I fell heavily. I was bruised all up my right side and Marion pulled a muscle in her arm trying to break my fall. She couldn't lift her arm above her head for a year.
When we told the fat guy in the office of our injuries he just laughed.
Sad to say that when we launched again there for a TS16 Association sail around French Island last weekend the ramp was no better. The attendant (who collects more money at this ramp than any other on the Mornington Peninsula) said "every time we water blast it, it's back the next day"
Trust me, there was enough mature weed on the ramp to have it listed as a Marine Park!
I slid down from the bow of my boat to the stern, no hands, without taking a step, much to the amusement of on-lookers
The least they could do is paint it with yacht hull anti-foul once a year, or jack-hammer some roughness into it.
It's a disgrace!
Hours spent sailing are not counted in man's allotted time on earth.
The gods understand that time on the water is time spent in heaven.
